Charged for Success: How QPS Powered Up Baylor’s Campus with a Turnkey UPS Solution

When it comes to protecting research, campus operations, and IT services, reliable power is non-negotiable.

Baylor University’s aging Eaton 9315 500kVA UPS had become both increasingly inefficient and vulnerable, jeopardizing uptime for critical systems across campus.

To address these challenges and update their UPS, Baylor turned to Quality Power Solutions (QPS), a trusted provider of turnkey UPS solutions for universities and colleges. The mission: to replace outdated infrastructure with a high-efficiency, redundant backup power system without disrupting operations or compromising reliability.

Making the Grade in Power Protection

QPS engineered and delivered a complete turnkey UPS solution tailored for the unique demands of higher education facilities. The design featured a parallel redundant configuration of (2) Toshiba G9000 225kVA units integrated with custom switchgear and seamlessly tied into existing infrastructure to improve system resilience and load-handling.

To maintain power to critical systems during the switchover, QPS installed a temporary UPS in a nearby parking structure, demonstrating meticulous planning, precise logistics, and an unwavering commitment to minimizing disruption.

Watt Could Go Wrong? How QPS Tackled Tough Campus Conditions

Limited shutdown windows, tight mechanical spaces, and severe winter conditions added complexity to the installation. QPS’s experienced team delivered the project on time and to specifications, earning praise from Baylor’s facilities team for their responsiveness, professionalism, and technical expertise.

Amp-lifying Campus Reliability

This project exemplifies QPS’s leadership in delivering energy-efficient, and future-ready UPS solutions for the higher education sector. Whether serving IT directors, building engineers, or electrical systems specialists, QPS ensures mission-critical infrastructure remains protected and prepared.
