Locked

The DataSafe® HX Top Terminated Batteries from EnerSys are a range of Valve Regulated Lead Acid (VRLA) batteries built for Information Technology and Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) applications. Available in 6 V and 12 V blocks from 4.5 to 200 Ah, they pair high reliability and long service life with a compact footprint, making them a dependable reserve-power source for protecting critical systems.

Overview

DataSafe HX top terminated batteries are engineered to protect vital equipment, combining a set of design features that maximize reliability while delivering strong performance and excellent service life. Their gas-recombination VRLA chemistry keeps gas evolution to a minimum, which means they can be installed in cabinets or on stands—in offices or close to the equipment they protect—so sites can make better use of available space while cutting storage and maintenance costs. The result is a battery that delivers high performance in less space than conventional standby power batteries.

Key features and benefits

  • Positive and negative plate grids in a lead-calcium-tin alloy for long life and efficient recharge.
  • Flame-retardant case (UL94) and cover that meet UL1778.
  • Individual flame-arresting cell vents.
  • Hermetically sealed containers and covers for leak resistance across the life of the product.
  • AGM separators that fully absorb the electrolyte.
  • High-performance brass threaded receptacle, bolt, and faston terminals.
  • Increased energy density.
  • Computer-optimized electrochemistry for higher power output down to the 15-minute rate at 1.67 volts per cell.
  • 100% initial battery capacity.

Construction

  1. High-conductivity terminals — brass insert with threaded receptacle (HX80–HX800), bolt terminal (HX80–HX150), or faston tab (HX25–HX50) for maximum conductivity and easy installation.
  2. High-integrity terminal seal — compression grommet (HX205–HX800) or dual welded/epoxy seal (HX25–HX150) designed for long life.
  3. Self-regulating relief valve — a low-pressure non-return valve that prevents atmospheric oxygen from entering the cell.
  4. Rugged high-performance positive plates — grids designed to resist corrosion and prolong active life.
  5. Balanced negative plates — tuned for optimum recombination efficiency.
  6. Tough cell containers — thick-wall plastic that resists shock and vibration, with flame-retardant material as the standard offering.
  7. Separators — low-resistance microporous Absorbent Glass Mat (AGM) that holds the electrolyte.
